Shop Local: Summer Farmers Markets
If you're staying somewhere with a kitchen, start here. These markets are producer-only or close to it. Real farms, real makers, real food.
- Berlin MD Farmers Market: Sundays, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Main Street. Live music, local produce, artisan goods, and the kind of small-town morning that's hard to replicate.
- Snow Hill MD Farmers Market: Thursdays, 12:00 to 5:00 PM in the municipal lot on West Green Street. A good midday stop for fresh berries, pastries, and coffee before an afternoon on the river.
- Pocomoke MD Farmers Market: Held at the Pocomoke City Market pavilion with a charming riverfront backdrop. Friday’s seasonal. Check local listings for current hours.
- Ocean Pines MD Farmers & Artisans Market: Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at White Horse Park. One of the largest in the area, great for everything from local meat to handmade soap.

- Berlin Summer Music: Catch live music at the Sunday Farmers Market. Low-key and local.
- Sundaes in the Park (Ocean City): Northside Park, 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The live concert and 9:00 PM fireworks display are free. The ice cream is on you.
- Taylor House Museum (Berlin): On the second Sunday of the month (July 12, 2026), the museum hosts its "Sunday Evenings" series featuring local musicians, speakers, or authors in a beautiful historic setting. Worth the drive!
Mondays through Saturdays
- OC Life-Saving Station Museum Free Summer Programs: Running July 6 through August 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM, the museum at the south end of the Boardwalk hosts free daily educational programs all summer long. Each program runs about 30 minutes and rotates by day:
- Monday is the history of the U.S. Life-Saving Service
- Tuesday is a beach safety session led by the OC Beach Patrol
- Wednesday is nautical knot tying with the Coast Guard Auxiliary
- Thursday is "All About Sharks"
- Friday is "Land, Sky and Sea"
- Saturday is the aquarium feeding
Every single one is free, and genuinely interesting for adults too. The building sits right at the Inlet, and the view alone is worth stopping.
Wednesdays
- Movies on the Beach (Ocean City, 118th Street): Bring blankets and chairs to the beach at the Carousel Hotel. Family-friendly films start at dusk around 8:30 PM, with lawn games like cornhole and spikeball earlier in the evening.
Thursdays
- Classic Cars on Somerset Plaza: Vintage cars, live DJ sets or local bands, and a stroll through downtown OC from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on select Thursday evenings.
- Sunset Park Party Nights (Ocean City): Free live music with a bayfront view, 7:00 to 9:00 PM. One of those "this is why we live here" evenings.
Fridays
Two towns worth knowing about if you’re spending any time off the beach.
- First Fridays in Snow Hill brings downtown Snow Hill to life on the first Friday of each month. Local shops stay open late, there’s usually live music or art, and the whole evening has the easy pace that makes Snow Hill worth the drive. Check the calendar for current dates and details.
- Fourth Fridays in Downtown Pocomoke City runs 5 to 8 PM on the fourth Friday of each month. Street festival energy: vendors, food, music, and a downtown that genuinely shows up for it. Free to attend.
Saturdays
- Summer Music at Furnace Town (Snow Hill): On select Saturdays like July 25, 2026, the historic Furnace Town Living History Museum hosts its Summer Music series from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Admission is typically free for members; check local listings for open community nights.
Hit the Trails in Pocomoke State Forest
July heat can be intense. The woods are where you want to be. The Pocomoke State Forest has over 25 miles of trails winding through cypress swamps, upland pine forests, and even inland sand dunes, all free to access. Whether you have 90 minutes or a full day, there's a trail for it. Standouts include the Milburn Landing Trail (3.7 miles through pine and hardwood forests) and the Furnace Loop Trails, three connected loops passing through rare forest communities.
For a flat, shaded walk closer to town, the Pocomoke City Nature and Exercise Trail at Cypress Park offers a 4-mile loop with floating boardwalks and a 1.5-mile soft surface loop, both free.

Worcester County Recreation & Parks runs programming and special events all summer that most visitors never find out about. Their calendar includes things like a fishing derby, Harbor Day, and other community events built for families who want more than a beach chair. The events draw locals, which is always a good sign.
Check their site before you head out. Something worth stopping for is usually on the schedule.
Day Trip: Salisbury, MD Zoo
When the sun peaks around 2:00 PM and the beach umbrella isn't cutting it, drive 30 minutes west. The Salisbury Zoo is one of the only zoos in the country with completely free admission (though donations are appreciated). Shaded paths, exotic animals including Andean bears and red wolves, and zero ticket lines. A legitimate half-day reset for families.
Mark Your Calendar: Worcester County Fair, August 7–9
The Worcester County Fair lands at John Walter Smith Park in Snow Hill August 7 through 9. Hosted by Worcester County Recreation & Parks, it’s a full weekend of live entertainment, local food vendors, a car show, agricultural exhibits, and the kind of community energy that reminds you there’s a whole county worth knowing out here.
