Labor Day Weekend – September 1-4
Labor Day Weekend used to be bittersweet in Ocean City, as it marked the inevitable end to summer. These days, Labor Day Weekend serves as a celebratory kick-off to the shoulder season in OCMD, which includes terrific fall events and plenty of perfect beach days. The three-day weekend will bring visitors flocking to Ocean City to enjoy the holiday with friends and family.
OC Bikefest – September 14-17
Bike Week is one of the most highly anticipated weeks of the year for many of Ocean City’s visitors, with thousands upon thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts pouring into town to enjoy the festivities. Both the inlet and Convention Center parking lots will overflow with bikes on display, along with vendors and exhibits for all to enjoy. Of course local bars and restaurants will be joining in the fun with specials on food and drinks all week-long. Be sure to stop by Green Turtle North, Hooters, Pit & Pub and Smitty McGees for all your Bike Week fun!
Sunfest is the first official fall event in OCMD, which marks the first in a long line of events to enjoy during the off-season in Ocean City. Sunfest is chocked full of arts and crafts, activities for the kids, food, and musical entertainment, with four-fun filled days of scheduled events. Headlining acts for this year’s Sunfest include jazz group Big Bad Voodoo Daddy country music star; Clint Black, Grammy winner Christopher Cross and Beatlemania Again. Many people associate crabs feasts with the hot summer months of June and July, but the truth is Maryland blue crabs are biggest and sweetest during the month of September! Simply stated, it’s the perfect time for a crab feast. Two of our favorite places to indulge in an Eastern Shore crab feast are Belly Busters and Hooper’s Crab House. Each offers the fattest and tastiest crabs, steamed to perfection and piled high on your table. It’s Maryland pride at its finest.
Locals’ Summer
September is often considered the ‘Locals Summer’ as it provides locals with a chance to enjoy a considerably less crowded beach, decreased traffic, and gorgeous weather. Of course this is precisely why visitors love the month of September as well. September offers some of the most beautiful beach weather in OCMD and is made better by the fact that the boardwalk and all of your favorite local businesses are still open.
