Ocean 1 Hotel & Suites

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel. My wife and I have been loyal guests for years, but unfortunately, our experience during this stay was well below the standard we have come to expect from your establishment.

We reserved one of the pricier rooms in the area, expecting a comfortable and seamless experience. However, several issues significantly detracted from our stay:

1. Lack of Basic Amenities: Despite multiple requests (four times, to be exact), hangers were not provided in our room until much later. This should be a standard amenity, especially for a room of this price range.
2. Non-Functional Outlets: None of the outlets in our room were working, which was incredibly inconvenient. We had to unplug one of the only three lamps in the room to charge our devices, leaving the room dimly lit. For a room of this size and price, functioning electrical outlets are a basic expectation.
3. Anniversary Disappointment: When we informed the staff that we were celebrating our anniversary, I inquired if there was anything special that could be done to mark the occasion. The response I received was that it was “too late in the season” for that. This was a missed opportunity to make our anniversary stay more memorable, and it left us feeling disappointed during what should have been a special occasion.

Given our history of staying at your hotel, we were particularly disappointed by this experience. We have always chosen yours for our stays because of the quality and service we’ve received in the past. However, this time, the experience was far from satisfactory, especially considering the price we paid.

In light of the poor customer service and overall unsatisfactory experience, I believe some form of compensation is warranted. I hope that there is something you can do to make this right. Otherwise, I regret to say that we may need to reconsider staying at your hotel in the future and look for alternative accommodations.

Also the door doesn’t close or open correctly.

This year our family decided to try a new hotel for our annual trip. Unfortunately this hotel was not ideal. Mouse droppings in the kitchenette cabinets, cockroaches, broken balcony door knobs, and peeling wallpaper. Parking is horrible. The spaces are super tight and far away from hotel. If you attempt to move your car closer to unload/repack they have rude staff members taking photos of your license plate and turn it into parking authorities. Facility was made aware of issues and nothing was done as a result. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The location is great. Parking is tight and a few times we had to park in their spare lot a block or two away, across a couple very busy streets. That wasn't ideal with us having little kids (though my husband picked us up/dropped us off at the hotel door). The elevator worked with no issues. The room was clean. There are no carpets, which is ideal especially by the beach. We had to plug in the lamps and clock and turn on a switch to use the TV which was odd, but fine (I guess it's their way of saving a few dollars on electricity?) The sheet and blanket on the bed was very thin, though I didn't get a creepy crawly feeling I've gotten from other hotel beds. I'll have to remember to bring our own blankets next time. The beds were otherwise comfortable enough and the air conditioner worked great. We had a side room, but still had a great view of the ocean on a spacious balcony which also had a screen door. The water pressure was dependent on how many people were using the shower in the entire hotel. When we tired to use it in the middle of the day we were unable, and weren't even able to flush the toilet because the tank was empty. We've never experienced that at a hotel before. Staff offered for us to switch rooms, but within a couple hours we had water again. When we showered at night we had great water pressure. Something to also keep in mind for the next time we stay here. There wasn't a pool, which was a bummer, but an okay trade off for the great price. No breakfast was included, but oddly enough I preferred that. I didn't feel the need to wake up at the crack of dawn on vacation just to "get my money's worth". The absolute best thing about this hotel was the staff/service and is the #1 reason I would return here next year. Every morning they took our trash that we placed outside by our door and they hung fresh towels, trash bags, coffee, and toilet paper on our door knob. We never had to ask for anything (other than the water issue). I haven't had hotel service that great since before COVID. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great location and wanting to save a few dollars. Just bring extra blankets and shower at night and it'll be a perfect trip
