Hyatt Place Ocean City / Oceanfront

Second time staying at this hotel and my last. At check in I discovered even though the hotel is listed as “oceanfront” my room would be at the adjacent building across a busy street, not ideal for a family with little ones getting to the beach. Did pay for an “upgrade” even though staff initially stated there were no other options. Unfortunately my “ocean view” room had a lovely view of the dumpster across the street and a loud kitchen exhaust.
-The outdoor pool was nice but surprisingly chilly but the indoor pool water was too murky and even my kids wouldn’t use it.
- The breakfast was a huge disappointment. The scrambled eggs were a mushy, tasteless mess. Kielbasa (odd choice for breakfast) was flavorless and looked to be a very cheap meat product. The fruit was sour and possibly spoiled. My kids wouldn’t eat the food and that’s saying a lot since breakfast is the only thing they consistently eat. Only thing they ate was the waffle and even that had a huge line.
- The WiFi was completely unusable. Too slow and wouldn’t stay connected for more than 2 mins.

Overall the high cost of the rooms is not in line with expectations. There are better options available for less. My most disappointing Ocean City stay and I’ve been coming for 20 years.

Extremely misleading booking. They have bought the hotel across the street and are treating it as one hotel. This means city view is now a room over looking a 6 lane road instead of a quiet side street and getting to the beach means crossing traffic. I do not recommend this hotel if you have young children because of needing to cross the street to access the beach.

The extension hotel has one one elevator for staff and customers to use and it is extremely slow. Be prepared to walk the stairs to get to.and from your room. Almost all the amenities require walking across the street.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well stocked but noisy.

It cannot be argued that the treatment at reception and the room service has been very effective. We visited the pool yesterday and a girl in the bar attended us very friendly and very attentive. She even brought us the drinks without any complaint and a very sweet treatment but today we were served at the bar a lady who is supposed to be the manager even asked me to move to another place where she felt comfortable so that I could place my order and I understand perfectly that it is for greater security to ask for ID when selling drinks for adults but regardless of the position we occupy in a company I think we should know how to express ourselves and more when we deal with different people because their attitude was not that of someone who provides his services to customer service was very unpleasant.
