Hyatt Place Ocean City / Oceanfront

Great hotels rooms in a great location. Friendly check-in staff. Fantastic ocean views from my top floor room. Super convenient garage parking below the building. This would have been five stars if not for the extremely disappointing breakfast. Very limited options compared to other Hyatt Place properties. Despite this, I would probably still stay here again.

Not what I expected from a Hyatt.

On the first night, the heat in our room didn’t work, which was especially upsetting because my 98-year-old grandmother was freezing. We expected much better urgency and care from the staff, but the service throughout the stay was disappointing particularly one of the front desk employees, and an older blonde woman who was consistently rude.

The “breakfast” was nothing more than microwaved processed food, far below what you’d expect from a Hyatt property. Housekeeping barely cleaned the room during our stay, and our room keys repeatedly stopped working. We even had to call maintenance a second time because the card reader on the door completely failed. Pressure in the showers in is like a fire hose so be prepared.

To top it off, staff made us feel unwelcome telling me to read a sign for something as simple as sitting at a table with leftovers from the boardwalk. The older blonde employee actually came in like a hawk to make sure my two year old, one year old children and wife wouldn’t have a peaceful spot to eat and rest.

After all of these issues, management still refused to refund us but one day of our 7 day stay.

Overall, would not stay here again there are probably better options.

Extremely misleading booking. They have bought the hotel across the street and are treating it as one hotel. This means city view is now a room over looking a 6 lane road instead of a quiet side street and getting to the beach means crossing traffic. I do not recommend this hotel if you have young children because of needing to cross the street to access the beach.

The extension hotel has one one elevator for staff and customers to use and it is extremely slow. Be prepared to walk the stairs to get to.and from your room. Almost all the amenities require walking across the street.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well stocked but noisy.
