Gateway Hotel & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection

*Located close to the boardwalk. Employees were friendly, especially Mike, energetic and professional an absolute joy to have at check in! Rooms were clean, bed was very comfy. ALOT of light comes through around the curtains from the automatic balcony lights and sunlight.
*In the family room next to the lobby there is a fuseball table, sofas, vending machines. Coffee,tea,hot chocolate available between certain hours. They also have a cornhole game out on the front lawn.
*Pool is located on the second floor, above the parking area. Not very big, but there were a lot of chairs around it.
*I think all rooms had a small balcony, either faced the street or the pool/parking area.
*Only issue we had was the metal door lock (one you flip once you're inside that has taken the place of chains/deadbolts) somehow flipped out after we closed the door and we were unable to get back inside. A staff member had to go through the next room, and use the balcony entrance to get inside our room. I have never experienced that before, neither did the staff member. We placed a thin hairtie around it so it wouldn't happen again and just removed it when we were in the room.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

This hotel is where I get the best sleep I ever had! The rooms are SO QUIET! I knew there were people in the rooms on either side of me because I saw them in the hallway, but I did not hear anything through the walls. I didn't even hear noise of my family from the bathroom in my own room! My favorite feature is the lounge area off the lobby, where there is a coffee and tea bar. It was like a cozy living room with a television, games/books, tables, and bean bag chairs. When we had a rain storm, it was a fantastic place to hang out, rather than feeling stuck in the room. In the evenings, when my adolescents wanted to be "out" and away from an adult, they were absolutely satisfied to sit down there on their phones for an hour or so (being too young to be on the boardwalk without an adult around). Staff was super friendly and answered all questions. I highly recommend this hotel for a nice, comfortable, friendly, quiet place to stay that is close enough to everything (just a block off the boardwalk), but not in the middle of everything and not overly expensive. My adolescents loved it, and we will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Ocean City MD for the 4th of July which also was my birthday! We had the most amazing time. My boyfriend and I immediately took notice that they’re 2 entrances and exits which keeps things flowing in the hotel and gives you options depending on what direction you want to walk. We also noticed that every single employee was absolutely amazing and welcomed us with open arms. They never made us feel like a hassle for printing out tickets for our excursions or asking for extra things such as towels and toilet paper! There is fresh lemon water daily which we enjoyed because boy was it hot! The rooms were CLEAN, especially the shower which I am picky about. The AC worked AMAZINGLY! I mean seriously we have no complaints! We will definitely be returning to this hotel when we come back to Ocean City MD!
