Dead Freddies Island Grill

Dead Freddies has a fun pirate and marine theme that sets the vibe nicely. The covered outdoor dining area is a real highlight. You can enjoy the breeze without direct sun, which was perfect for our group. Service started strong; our waitress brought water right away, which we really appreciated after a late night out.

However, the food quality was hit or miss across our table. My friend who ordered the crispy chicken sandwich was quite disappointed. She said it tasted rubbery and even looked slightly pink when she bit into it, which is concerning. Another friend enjoyed her seafood wrap overall, though she found the side salad underwhelming. As for my grilled chicken sandwich, it was just average with very little flavor in the chicken breast. I also tried the homemade pasta salad, which ended up being overly creamy.

One practical tip for groups: they don't split checks per table, so plan accordingly if you're coming with multiple parties wanting separate bills.

Overall, the ambiance and location are charming, but the food inconsistency and one questionable order make it hard to recommend without reservations.

The kids wanted to come here on Father's Day for dinner. We ordered drinks and our meals.

The drinks were good not great. They gave me a drink with a goofy big straw that was way oversized for the drink. Not sure what the point was but it was unusual.

I ordered the salmon and the waitress explained that was a good choice because I would smell it before I saw it. I asked is that a good thing? She said yes so I said okay with fish that is usually a bad thing.

Well the salmon arrived and I didn't smell it so not sure what she was saying but it was very disappointing. The salmon was overcooked and dry and was placed on a small spoonful of dry yellow rice which is supposed to be rice pilaf. It wasn't good at all. I told the waitress it was dry and she got a manager to come over and I explained to him it was dry so he said he would bring it to the chef and show him. The manager came back and said the chef told him that is how they usually cook it and he asked if I want another one or something else and I said I did not want another dry disappointing meal so I declined any more food. Lots of items are fried and I wasn't going to wait for fried food while everyone else in my party was eating.

They didn't charge me for the Salmon.

I just ate some of the fries I ordered for my son and that was that.

I will never come back and unless you like fried foods this place is not worth eating at. You want to try the other dozens of places with fresh food that isn't fried and isn't overcooked and overpriced.

Food was tasty. Especially my “sunken crab cake” the soup was delicious. Loved the layout and decor. Food came out FAST. Shark bite drink was big with the kids. Crab dip dish was so shallow! Barely any in it. The playground was awesome. Very safe. Enclosed. Kids loved it.
