Carousel Hotel

For the price I paid, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and customer service. While the hotel offers nice amenities, including multiple pools and a convenient oceanfront location, those features do not make up for the poor condition of the rooms and the lack of service.

The room had gnats, and there was a strong moldy, mildew smell coming from both the air conditioner and the ceiling. The bathroom ceiling was damaged, with pieces missing, making the room feel neglected and poorly maintained. Housekeeping was unacceptable. It was extremely difficult to get clean towels and washcloths, and the level of cleanliness did not reflect what guests are paying for.

This hotel has potential, but management needs to invest in better housekeeping, maintenance, and customer service. Guests should not have to deal with mold odors, insects, damaged rooms, or struggle to get basic necessities like towels. Unfortunately, my experience did not justify the cost, and I cannot recommend staying here until these issues are corrected.

Overall this place went downhill. I was excited to stay here and bring my kids because I remember loving this hotel when I was a kid- wrong. Stay away. With check in- they gave me a room that wasn’t ready- no towels, beds weren’t made… they came and switched the room to Nextdoor. Okay cool- except for blood mark on the bathroom door and stains throughout the room. Gross. Then, this hotel has a big problem with TOWELS. 40 minute wait for towels… then outdoor pool AND indoor pool both were out of towels. House keeping came at 6pm to our room and my kid was napping and the lady was bagging on the door. I opened and declined service because really at 6pm lol. I asked for towels- she was out of them- surprise.
Oh, and don’t get pool food because you can’t actually bring it to the pool area. Anyways, plenty of hotels at OC- don’t go to this one. Their apologies are a joke.

We were happy with all aspects of this hotel. The room was spacious and clean and had a great view of the beach. The location was convenient (we used to stay on or near the boardwalk, but further up away from the boardwalk is much more of a family friendly area). Parking was tight, but we always found a parking space. Great valuthe price. One down side is that they have a nice beach bar, but the drinks are so overpriced that no one hangs out there...after you get your first drink, you don't get a second...
