Beach Bum West-O

We booked one night here as a last resort to continue our vacation. As soon as we walked in, we were hit with a strong, musty smell. The mattress was uncomfortable, and there was no extra towel for hand washing. The pool was clean and we liked that it was next to a creek. This place is fine for a last minute stay if you can get used to the musty smell, but I would not recommend an extended stay here.

If you're looking for a nice and reasonable place to stay, we'd suggest not here. Here are reasons based upon our experience over a few nights stay. We were in the "pool view" building.

Our expectations were high given the earlier reviews and pictures on Beach Bum West-O's website. Boy, we were so disappointed. When checking in, I wondered why I had to sign a form with all of these specified requirements, one being there are no refunds. I can see clearly now as to why they have visitors sign these. If I could've retrieved my money, I would have. There's a nice Hampton Inn down the street.

In using the bathroom for the first time after arriving, the exhaust fan didn't operate. We emailed the problem to the property owner. They did reply with an acknowledgement but that's the furthest it went. For the days we were here, the fan was never fixed. So, our front door was open to allow fresh air to come in, even though it was in the 40's outside. And if you're sensitive to noise, the heating/cooling system is loud!!

The towel holders are rusted which means the towels get the rust on them. yuck!! We were afraid to adjust the shower head for fear of it breaking. All of this is documented in our attached pictures. The walls are paper thin which means you can hear the folks in the room next to you, for EVERYTHING!! If you're on the bottom floor of the 2 story building, you will hear every footstep and item dropped on the floor above you.

Depending upon your expectations, this might be a nice place for you.

I stayed here a week before Memorial Day weekend. They have a good selection of cabins or rooms and they are very clean, super priced with a a great location on the West side. This has got to be one of the best places to stay anywhere in West Ocean City!!! I will definitely be back.
