Ashore Resort & Beach Club

Overall a relaxing, resort-type hotel. The interior is so classy. The restaurant breakfast was fantastic! The beach area is so private and so convenient. There’s an Acme a few blocks away, which was awesome! (they even have a bar next to the pool😉)

Unfortunately, though, we didn’t love our experience. We are the type of people who just stay in a room to get ready & sleep. We’re not picky, but there were flaws we couldn’t ignore. Firstly, there were no shower towels/rags in the room, the door to the balcony was so hard to open & the handle kept breaking off, and there was no ice in the machines (we checked every floor).
When we got in the bed for the night, there was sand in the bed, indicating that they did not change/wash the bedding.
Although the restaurant was tasteful, the host was very rude & didn’t speak to us at all. We asked for a table for two and she rolled her eyes, grabbed two menus, and walked us over to the table.

I had high expectations for the Ashore Ocean City given its Tribute Portfolio branding and high nightly rates, but unfortunately - and as a status member - this was THE most disappointing Marriott stay I've experienced. Marriott has essentially ghosted me on complaints as well, which doesn't help their brand look.

The biggest initial issue was housekeeping. Upon arrival we had literally no towels and no soap. Their policy is they do not perform housekeeping whatsoever unless requested - which itself is absurd for lengthy stays. During a five-night stay, our room was never serviced despite requesting daily housekeeping upon arrival and following up at least eight separate times throughout the stay. Beds were never made, sheets were never changed, towels had to be requested, among other basic issues. Ironically, staff knocked on our door multiple times on checkout morning hoping to turn the room over before we had even left.

Unfortunately, the problems extended well beyond housekeeping. Our room had visible mold, water damage in the bathroom, broken electrical outlets, a warped bathroom door that had to be forced shut, a loose toilet seat, an inoperable safe, no iron, no hangers, and extremely flat pillows. The beds themselves were not terribly comfortable either.

Many of the property's amenities were also unavailable or poorly maintained. The air conditioning in the restaurant, bar, and veranda was not working, leaving guests and employees sitting in uncomfortable heat. The Wahoo Bar television wasn't working during the World Cup, multiple ice machines were out of service, the pool water appeared cloudy, and the hotel routinely ran out of complimentary beach chairs by around 9:00 AM. Even the pool furniture felt inexpensive and out of place for a premium beachfront resort.

The recent refurbishment of all rooms - which appears to be near completion - amounts to nothing more than lipstick on a pig.

The only bright spot was the staff. Every employee we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely tried to help despite clearly being limited by larger operational issues beyond their control.

We were there as part of a larger group for a competition and this opinion of the property is unanimous. Others in the group suffered identical issues in addition to plumbing backups and otherwise.

This property has potential, but in its current state it falls far short of the expectations of a Tribute Portfolio hotel or the rates being charged.

We had an amazing stay at Ashore Oceanfront Hotel by Marriott! The hotel was beautiful, clean, and perfectly located right on the beach. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and everything exceeded our expectations.

A special shout-out to Peter, the bartender, who truly made our stay even better. He was friendly, professional, and made some of the best drinks we’ve had. His great personality and outstanding customer service created such a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Peter went above and beyond to make my visit to the bar enjoyable.

We highly recommend Ashore Oceanfront Hotel by Marriott and can’t wait to come back. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful experience!
