Americana Hotel Oceanfront

Most of the employees are a bunch of teenagers/early 20s and lacking greatly in professionalism or hospitality for guests. They seemed to be unable to care less about our experience or the experience of anyone else. The only person I noticed who seemed to care was a young girl with reddish hair. She was always working or smiling. The only real adult I saw worked the night shift and said he couldn’t help us we would need to speak to the teenagers on staff who I guess run the place. The standard rooms overlook the dumpsters. When i complained they told me all of the standard rooms overlook the dumpsters. Our room was directly above the dumpsters. We could almost throw our trash into them. The hot water has to be run for more than 15 minutes before it kicks in and there was a bad sour smell in our room that we didn’t notice at first because I think they use some sort of air freshener to cover the smell but about an hour or so after arrival it kicked in. I believe the smell likely comes from the carpet which is really old. The walls were paper thin we could hear everything going on I. The neighbors room even though he was very quiet. We moved to another hotel a couple of days later nearby and had an incredible stay there.

Overall my stay here was nice. It’s has a nice view on the boardwalk and ocean. The only reason I gave this a 4 star was because of the rooms. The rooms were nice but also it looks like they never change the pillows. The pillows smelled very weird like sweat from multiple different people. The rooms are spacious and nice though. The area is very walkable and has many different shops and restaurants near by.

Good room, great location. We stayed in OCMD for one night as a halfway point for a trip and this hotel was cheap and right on the boardwalk. No frills, but it was clean and nice to wake up to the ocean out front. Super close to the rt 50 bridge so easy enough to jump off 113 and spend a night at the beach. Parking was extra but we booked thru Expedia so we only paid $35 for the room-still a great deal.
