Pocomoke River State Park: Milburn Landing

With 14,753 wooded acres in the Southwestern section of Worcester County, between Snow Hill and Pocomoke City, the state forest is famous for its stand of loblolly pine and for its cypress swamps which border the Pocomoke River. Pocomoke means black water, and there is good fishing in these waters. The river originates in the Great Cypress Swamp in Delaware and flows southwesterly 45 miles to the Chesapeake Bay.
The park's combination of swamp and upland offers a great variety of plant and animal life, including white dogwood and pink laurel in the spring, river otters and bald eagles, and over 50 species of fish.

Peaceful secluded no-frills park
Milburn Landing Campground at Pocomoke River State Park is a very nice campground right on the waters edge of the beautiful Pocomoke River. Our Campground was right by the river, and only a short walk to a small kayak launch area.
The campground is spaciously distributed amongst a forest of Huge pine trees providing lots of shade and privacy. I took my kayak out on the Pocomoke River and thououghly enjoyed exploring the unique Bald Cypress swamp biome. Also had fun exploring the Bicycle trails. The Algonquin Trail starts at the park and offers many miles of walking or mountain biking. The Bald Cypress trail is not very bicycle friendly.

Wonderful forest!! Excellent running trails with a diverse range of terrain.

Very small but enjoyable campground. Only 36 sites. The bathhouse was clean but placed at one side of campground instead of being centralized. Most sites were small for parking vehicles. The park personnel and hosts were friendly. Pet friendly which is nice.
2 pavilions were available. The one closest to the camp sites were great for the people renting it, beautiful view of the river, but not great for campers if they didn't want to hear the noise.
The boat ramp was in good condition considering the parking lot had grass growing in it. They had a bathroom near the boat ramp but when we used it, no electricity.
Overall nice place but probably better suited for day trippers to use boat ramp, rent the pavilion and hike.
