Holiday Inn Express & Suites West Ocean City, an IHG Hotel

In general, we have stayed at other Holiday Inn Express hotels and this was not exactly the top of the line. Our room was very disappointing. Old worn out furnishings and carpet. It felt very dirty and unkept. Very high beds which we don’t understand why. The shower curtain in the bath was cheap and the chrome bath fixtures and lamps kwere all old and pitted. TV picture kept fading from “warm to cold” and the channel surfing was very odd and difficult to use. The Staff seemed to ok but not the cream of the crop. The breakfast was pretty good.
My suggestion, look for another hotel in the area that is cleaner and less run down. This place is severely struggling.

We had issues with our IHG points and were told all those rooms were booked despite a no black out. The ONLY REASON we stayed here was because it was Pet friendly . We we got here the clerk did upgrade us to a suite, and it was appreciated. The "suite" consisted of a love seat and a coffee table area . Anyway after driving 4.5 hours to get there our 8 y/o grandson had to use the men's room that was out of order . We were told at that time that the pool to was closed. Not off to a great start. We get to the room and there's a foot long hole in the carpet.
Over looked all this because my grandson loves hotel life called dibs on the bed and was happy as can be.
With all of this above said, the staff couldn't be any nicer and accommodating . The free breakfast in the morning was pretty good and changed somewhat day to day, with a huge variety of food. There was an area to bring the dog for it's business and they even provided bags . Location wise I thought it was great, it was a 5 minute drive to the strip, and boardwalk, and all the great restaurants around the area.
At the end of the day we left satisfied. But I'll leave my dog home next time and get a beach view on the strip.

My husband had booked a room at this hotel - through Booking.com - so that we could be away from the ocean front hustle and bustle. When we arrived, a surly front desk clerk informed us that we had no reservation. Even after my husband gave him our reservation number, he still could not find it. He never tried a bit more to be helpful to us.

I immediately booked a room at another, ocean front Holiday Inn property - through Expedia, this time, and we walked away. As we were exiting the hotel, the manager came running after us, saying that our reservation had been found - under my name (I never made this reservation, and my last name is different from my husband’s.) We told him that we were leaving anyway, because the front desk clerk had been rude to us, and we had already found a room elsewhere.

We are now seeking a refund from Booking.com. And, by the way, our experience at the ocean front Holiday Inn was wonderful.
