Grand Hotel
We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland, and while the location and oceanfront views were certainly the highlights, the overall experience fell short of expectations given the price.
In my opinion, nearly all of the value is tied to the ocean view. Waking up to the Atlantic Ocean and enjoying the balcony views was wonderful, but beyond that, the accommodations felt surprisingly average.
The room itself was functional but lacked the comfort and quality I expected for the rate being charged. The bathroom was particularly disappointing—very small, dark, and constructed with inexpensive materials that gave it a dated, budget-hotel feel. Rather than contributing to a relaxing vacation atmosphere, it simply served its basic purpose.
The provided toiletries were another example. Soap, shampoo, and lotion were included, but the quantities were very small and the products felt generic and basic. There was nothing about the room or amenities that made the stay feel special or luxurious.
Overall, I would describe this as a solid three-star hotel. It is clean, reasonably comfortable, and benefits greatly from its beachfront location. However, if you're paying premium prices, be aware that you're primarily paying for the ocean view and location rather than upscale accommodations or amenities.
Would I stay again? Possibly for the view alone. But I would adjust my expectations and understand that this is more of a practical place to sleep than a destination hotel designed to provide a truly relaxing or luxurious experience.

Grand Hotel
We stayed with family in a block of rooms at the Grand Hotel for my parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary. Rooms were clean and updated. We especially appreciate the LVT flooring, which had a much cleaner feel than carpet. The housekeeping staff, Denise in particular, were very friendly and accommodating of anything we may have needed, and our room was always very clean. The location on the southern end of the famous Ocean City Boardwalk makes it a perfect jumping off point to visit attractions to either the northern or southern end of the island. Plenty of elevators made it easy to get to and from the beach. The only small thing that could be addressed is that the air conditioner was pretty noisy, and would wake us up when it kicked on at night. We would definitely stay at the Grand again!

I loved this hotel!! Our stay was very pleasant. The direct ocean view was superb! Hotel staff and service was exceptionally helpful. The indoor pool was so nice and the kids loved the arcade/game area. The outdoor pool deck was very clean and positioned nicely to watch the sunset. The hotel restaurant and deck also shared the same lovely sunset view. My only complaint was the rude staff in the hotel Cafe on the ground level and the adjacent attached boardwalk pizzeria. The cashier was rude and made a huge error with my order tha I didn't notice until I returned to my room. We ordered Chicken Alfredo and even pointed to the photograph to ensure it was the correct order. Once in our room I opened the platter to see only plain pasta Alfredo with no chicken. I told the manager that no one would spend almost $20 for plain Alfredo and he insistent that I would have to pay an extra ten dollars extra for them to add chicken. So we know where not to eat on our next visit to the Grand Hotel. But we will definitely visit this hotel again. Everything else was wonderful!!!
