I’ve stayed at this place about three times in the past couple of years and loved it every time. You get exactly what you pay for- Nothing more, nothing less. If you’re expecting a high-class hotel, stay away.
The place is definitely outdated and a little dingy. The halls reek of chlorine and moisture, but that’s to be expected with a carpeted, family-oriented hotel that’s so close to the ocean and has on-site pools. Despite the way it smells, it isn’t filthy. I’ve wandered the place barefoot and never got dirty feet.
The hotel rooms themselves are just alright, they’re serviceable. The beds are somewhat comfortable, the AC can easily make the room freezing, TV and internet work well for the most part. The furniture can feel pretty gross, though. It’s got that sticky, well-used feel. Microwaves and mini fridges also seem a bit unappealing, but were never completely disgusting or unusable. Never saw or experienced any pests during any of my stays, besides maybe a cockroach in the courtyard. It’s not the hotel’s fault people bring their own infestations to the place.
The best part about The Flagship Hotel is definitely all the different amenities they have. Not only is there an outdoor and indoor pool, but there’s also a mini hot tub, arcade room, courtyard, and a cute little ice cream shop at the front desk too. The $1 canned soda and snack vending machines are also great. The fact that it’s located directly at the boardwalk and beach is what really sells the place, though.
Staff are super friendly and are generally quite helpful. We ran into a problem with a leaking roof during one of our stays (due to some heavy rain) and we were able to be moved into another vacant room without any hassle. The maintenance man arrived quickly when we reported our issue to the front desk and we were moved out of the room within the hour.
Overall, The Flagship Hotel is an alright place. It’s not amazing, but it isn’t terrible either.

Decent hotel. Like maybe 10 feet from the sand. But definitely needs some fixing up. Take a scented candle or an air freshener. Our room, my sister's room, and the room next to us smelled really bad. Tried to fix coffee one morning and there was still grounds in the pot from the last people. One of our beds was decent, the other I dont think had a bottom in it. The lady that checked us in mumbled the whole time and 3 of us had no idea what she was saying. The rest of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Eddie deserves a raise!! Definitely take the good with the bad here. The a/c worked amazingly well.

Okay, I was scared to death that my husband booked this hotel before I could read the reviews. Then I read the reviews and I thought we were about to check into a dumpster. I can't say it's really deserving of 4 stars but I almost fell bad giving it less. I'll try to explain...
Yes, when you first check-in the halls have a certain smell. Everyone is walking around wet from the pools and ocean. It's one of the oldest hotels we were told and it's carpet. It's kind of a wet/ocean smell. It definitely didn't get stuck in our noses or when we got home was it on our belongings.
Goodness does the place need updating! But guess what? The staff told us the property has been bought and they are demolishing and rebuilding. When? I don't know, wasn't told! But this is the kind of place that I can bring my wild as heck toddler and not be scared he will breath wrong, if you know... you know. You get what you pay for. You can tell things are older. Like showers or carpets or furniture. But it was packed with families and all the children were having fun and running around. Making vacation buddies to play with at the indoor or outdoor pool and the courtyard with a pirate ship sandbox.
It served its purpose. The sheets and shower were clean. We could sleep in the bed without waking up feeling like we had broken backs. The hotel and the staff were extremely welcoming of families and children. It's a amazing location. You are literally steps from the ocean. It is a 25-30 minute walk from the actual "boardwalk" with all the shops, rides, etc but there is a shuttle that runs basically all the time. Which was wonderful so we didn't have to worry about parking.
Overall was it the greatest hotel? Not really. Was it extremely "clean"? Yes and no. You can tell it's been around a long time and carpets may have little spots or the hall does have a wet smell (from guests being wet and walking around like that at all hours). But the sheets, shower, windows, etc. were all very clean in our room. Staff was so friendly and we had great conversations with many of them. And the hotel has two pools, a courtyard and an arcade for the kids. Our experience truly wasn't as bad as others! Maybe we got lucky? Maybe some people have too high expectations? All I can tell you was our experience and for the price and what we received, it was well worth it and the hotel was fine.
