I spent the weekend at Ashore for a retreat. I had planned the retreat with a group of other women for several months to ensure it would be a refreshing time for everyone who attended. However, noise and customer service issues with the hotel made it a very poor choice of location for our event. First, the metal air conditioner grate on the outside of our air conditioning unit was hanging on by one screw and rattled all night in the ocean breeze. We had to ask the hotel staff to fix it twice the next day before someone responded. Second, one of the bath towels had a large blood stain on it. The worst part of the stay was how noisy it was. The walls were thin, and on my first night at the hotel, the couple in the next room had a 45 minute long screaming fight filled with profanity (so loud I could hear every word despite wearing earplugs) from midnight until 12:45 am that included slammed metal doors and furniture being shoved around and only quieted down after I called security. On my second night at the hotel, there was a party that had a band until 10:30 pm and then a DJ until 12:30 am. Both were so loud that it was impossible to sleep. The air conditioner unit and TV on the wall rattled from the pulsing beat. Even laying in bed with earplugs in, the bass was so loud it was physically perceptible in my body and felt like a second heartbeat. I called the front desk at midnight to complain about noise that prevented sleeping for the second night in a row and was told there was nothing they could do - even though they told me that several guests had already called to complain - because an outside group had rented the space and they didn't have any control over them. The desk clerk told me that the noise would continue until 12:30 pm when the DJ left. I wish I had thought to call the police because they were certainly violating the Ocean City, MD noise ordinance that required no disruptive noise that could be heard from 50 feet away from the building where it is located after midnight. Several other women who attended the retreat had the same issues with noise, depending on where their rooms were located, and had also called to complain and had been told there was nothing that could be done. I spoke to the manager the next day about the noise issue and the fact that I had been unable to get a full night's rest on both of my nights there. I suggested that it would be a good idea to group guests based on their use of the venue so that the party group would have the rooms surrounding the ballroom and quieter groups would be housed in a different area. He said that my experience was unfortunate and that the quieter rooms were on the higher floors and were more expensive than my standard room - and that those rooms were the ones that the party guests had reserved. However, some of the women in my group - also in standard rooms but on different floors or ends of the building - did not have any problem with noise. I felt as though the hotel staff was not concerned about ensuring a good customer experience for all guests.

You can tell this is an old building that has had a lot of makeovers but overall it's not a bad place to stay especially being located right on the beach. The room was not the greatest. There was only 1 towel in the room when we checked in and there were no tissues. Whoever designed the shower needs to rethink their career because it is the worst designed shower I've ever seen. There is no door and a waterfall shower head. This means no pressure and water going everywhere in the bathroom. I would still come back and stay again though. Also saw horse show crab things on the beach while staying here

Lovely property! It's clean, warm and cozy. My wife and I got married here recently and everyone in our wedding party really enjoyed their time and were in awe of the beauty here. We will be back again and again, no doubt.
