Tidelands Caribbean Hotel & Suites

As a registered nurse and healthcare administrator, I pay close attention to cleanliness, safety, and infection prevention standards. Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel raised serious concerns.

From the moment we entered our room, the level of cleanliness was unacceptable. The floors appeared dirty, the bathroom showed what looked like mold around the shower area, and the room did not meet the level of sanitation I would expect from any hotel welcoming families. During our stay, members of our family woke up with bites that caused us to question the cleanliness of the room and whether there may have been insects present.

What affected us most, however, was not just the condition of the hotel—it was the emotional impact of our experience. During our stay, our family was awakened in the middle of the night and told we were being evicted despite believing we had done nothing wrong. Although we were ultimately allowed to remain, the experience was traumatic for our young daughter.

Even after returning home, she became fearful whenever someone knocked on a door, asking if someone was coming to make us leave again. No parent wants to have that conversation with their child, especially on her birthday. Instead of celebrating, we found ourselves trying to reassure her that she was safe and helping her process an experience that no young child should have to endure.

Every family deserves to feel safe, respected, and welcomed when staying at a hotel. I sincerely hope management takes a close look at both its cleanliness standards and the way guests are treated so that no other family has to leave with the same lasting memories that we did.

Overall, this hotel was exactly what I expected. The rooms are definitely dated and could use some updating, but they were clean enough and provided a comfortable place to rest after a long day. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay, which made a positive difference. The pool area was also clean and well maintained. If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this probably isn't it, but if you want an affordable place to sleep with good service, it gets the job done.

Don't let the pictures online fool you. This hotel is a dump. It was filthy and in need of repairs, everywhere you look. My wife wouldn't even shower in the room. One positive is beds were comfortable. Parking is a nightmare. At checkout, I didn't get a "how was your stay" or "thank you". The young man took the key card, looked at his screen and said "okay, you're done". I posted pics. The property has potential and good location. Needs a significant financial investment. For the price, I expected much more. Admittedly, I didn't complain. We got back late, and were only booked for one night.
