Ocean Mecca Motel

UPDATED REVIEW.. ..also Look at the Reviews for Ocean Mecca before booking because this hotel has changed names...This is my review from a brief experience this past weekend....ALSO DO NOT BOOK FROM ANYONE BUT THE HOTEL ITSELF, other reservation sites have been creating scams.

The location of the hotel is great, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful — especially with parking, which we really appreciated. We were on a last-minute weekend road trip and booked this place around 10 PM, as it was one of the few options still available. The total cost for the night was just over $500, which is definitely overpriced for the quality of the hotel.

Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing. We walked in to find a fly swatter hanging on the wall, noticeable stains on the carpet, and an uncomfortable mattress with dated bedding. The overall condition made us uncomfortable, and given that we were already eager to get back on the road and closer to family, we decided to leave immediately after checking in.

To their credit, the staff kindly refunded us, which I appreciated — that’s the main reason I wanted to give them 2-3 stars. Also, the manager, a very friendly female, has AMAZING customer service skills which is also why I am giving this place more stars.

This place has potential thanks to its location and staff, but it really needs some updates or a more reasonable price point to match the current condition.

I was pleasantly surprised by this motel. Inexpensive, right on the boardwalk, and clean. Couldn't ask for more. I wish they had more ocean-facing balconies, but really, it's the model's only shortfall. The rooms are a bit outdated, but for the price, it's great. We got an efficiency room for 6 people with an apartment fridge and stove, and it was just right for the price. I would recommend this to family or friends, and will probably stay here again next year.

This year they changed the name to fish tales which is appropriate because they stink. This was our 6th year staying at this motel. The 5 years prior were pretty great. Everyone that worked there seemed like nice people. Can't say that this year. They overcharged us for a Friday night stay, when we should have been charged for a weekday(thurs) stay, they refused to refund the over charge when we realized the error. They only offered a voucher towards a stay next year. Legal theft I guess. I hope that $100 was worth losing a loyal customer. My 10 year old grandsons controller to his game system went missing after our room was cleaned. The housekeeper was the only other person in our room our whole stay. We notified them so they could check the linen. My grandson asked the lady but she denied seeing it. So disappointing. Will not stay there again
