CENTURY 21 New Horizon

RENTER BEWARE – MISLEADING AMENITIES LISTING

We booked a place at the Braemar in OC (Unit 912) through Vrbo, but it is managed by Century 21 New Horizon, whose office is located right below the condo building entrance.

The Vrbo listing specifically stated that towels and linens were provided as part of the essential amenities. However, after booking, we discovered that the rental agreement states linens are only provided for week-long stays. This information was not clearly disclosed in the listing and feels very deceptive. Advertising amenities to secure a booking and then restricting them in the rental agreement creates a frustrating bait-and-switch experience.

We spoke with a manager, Jazz, and requested either the promised linens or reimbursement for having to obtain our own. Our request was denied and escalated to the company president, Kim Looney, who informed me that the company would not be providing linens, issuing a credit, or offering any reimbursement despite the discrepancy between the listing and the rental agreement.

As for the condo itself, the listing photos were limited and there were no reviews available when we booked, making it difficult to know what to expect. We requested a late check-in because we were traveling with an infant and wanted to arrive during bedtime, and the management company accommodated this by placing the keys in a lockbox, which we appreciated.

Upon arrival, the thermostat was set to 78°F, so the unit was quite warm and took some time to cool down.

The primary bedroom is spacious and includes a queen bed (which squeaks), an attached bathroom with a tub/shower combination, and a washer and dryer located inside the room. Families with sleeping infants may find this layout less convenient. The second bedroom is significantly smaller, with two twin beds and access to a full bathroom with a shower across the hall. None of the bedrooms have blackout curtains.

The kitchen was adequately stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils, and cups. We did notice one of the cabinets wouldn’t close, likely due to a bad spring. There were extra trash bags and some partially used cleaning supplies and sponges, which appeared to have been left behind by previous guests. Be sure to bring your own paper towels and extra toilet paper, as these were not provided and availability seemed to depend on what previous guests had left behind.

The patio is completely unfurnished, and no beach or pool equipment is provided, so plan to bring your own chairs, umbrellas, toys, and other essentials.

Overall, for the price we paid, the value did not meet our expectations. Between the misleading amenities listing, issues with Century 21 and the lack of basic supplies, we would not choose to stay in this unit again or deal with Century 21 New Horizion.

We had a great vacation at Braemar Condominium. This was my first time staying here and will definitely be back. The condo was very clean and had great view of the ocean.

Everyday is a great day when we are staying at 504 Even Keel. It’s clean, decorated perfectly and has a great balcony directly on Ocean Front. The property is always kept clean and updated. The kitchen provides everything needed to cook and eat. Can’t wait to see the new appliances next time. We love the picture window in the bedroom along with the walk out to the balcony and being the end unit. Parking is never a hassle and the elevator is dependable. Thank you Mr. Owner for all you did to make sure we had a new stove and despite your efforts to provide one, we wanted to stay there anyway. We appreciate your consideration for our week’s stay. You care about your rental and treat your tenants well.

Century 21 New Horizon are professional and friendly. The transition to Even Keel 504 is always smooth and organized when checking in or checking out. We like dealing with them at their location at 8606 Coastal Hwy. Ocean City, MD 21842. Properties are always maintained top notch.
