Americana Hotel Oceanfront

We had a great stay here at the Americana. It was ideally situated for the activities we wanted to do. The beach access was excellent and there were numerous places along the boardwalk to roam to from here. We opted for an ocean view balcony which I think was well worth the additional cost. Any time we were in the room, someone was on the balcony. The room was fairly standard two beds, standard bathroom, a mini fridge, countertop and a microwave. Our air conditioning unit was very loud for some reason, and would wake people up in the night when it kicked on, so that was a little bit of a downer. The staff was friendly and said hello everything they saw us in passing. We tried the pool on one of the days and it was nice...its indoors, a little small, but since it was a sunny day and everyone was at the beach we had it to ourselves. Parking could be a problem. We managed to snag a spot in the lot so didn't have to use their auxiliary garage which is a few blocks from the hotel from my understanding, but my recommendation is once you park, don't move your car again. All in all, it was a nice experience. The hotel is a little dated and could use a little refresh, but it didn't ruin our trip by any means. Would come here again just for the views. We stayed here for the second time this year this past week. Last year we were impressed with the close location to the boardwalk fun and no issues - this year was very different. We brought our 10 month old and reserved a “crib” that was advertised on booking.com. We had to ask a few times, but they did eventually set it up. It was a pack n play with all the little padding they come with worn down, and one of the panels from the mat that goes on the bottom was missing, leaving a metal bar exposed. If my baby turned in his sleep his head would literally sink and hit the pole. They tried to disguise this by stuffing the pack n play with blankets and pillows- suffocation risk for a 10 month old. It was $15 a night to rent this “crib”. Housekeeping came the first night and left fresh towels and emptied the trash, and then never came again the following 3 nights. We had to go downstairs to ask for towels- no apologies, just handed the towels off. By night 3 our trash was overflowing. Then they leave a tip envelope for the end of the stay for housekeeping. I don’t mind tipping when it’s warranted- but in this case I’m not sure what i was to tip for as housekeeping was non existent. We saw their cart by our room twice, they didn’t come in either time- one of the housekeepers was on FaceTime on her phone. We smelled marijuana outside by the side entrance as well as soon as we walked out. disappointing and would not reccomend for a family with littles. For this price, there are much better options.

One of my favorite things about this hotel is the location. If you are looking to stay at the Marriott, this is not the location for you. Think of this as a small business. The rooms are neat and clean and they provide you with enough toiletries. If you need extras just ask the staff. They have an indoor pool and a vending machine/ ice machine on the first floor. They have a kitchenette area in the rooms as well. Their rooms are as advertised. I’m surprised of the low ratings, this is my second time at this location and thus far has been one of the best places I’ve booked. Again if you’re looking for the Marriott this is not for you. If you’re more laid back and looking for a place with running hot water, a/c, and a place to lay your head a night after some fun in the sun— this is the place for you! Definitely looking forward to staying here next year.
