Americana Hotel Oceanfront

Good room, great location. We stayed in OCMD for one night as a halfway point for a trip and this hotel was cheap and right on the boardwalk. No frills, but it was clean and nice to wake up to the ocean out front. Super close to the rt 50 bridge so easy enough to jump off 113 and spend a night at the beach. Parking was extra but we booked thru Expedia so we only paid $35 for the room-still a great deal.

When we arrived to the hotel we walked in and noticed a strong smell of pine, nothing to concern ourselves over. When we arrived at the front desk the lady working the front desk had us pay $75 a person security deposit that was stated nowhere in the policy on the booking website. When we eventually arrived to our room, the pine smell was 10x stronger then the lobby, almost nauseating. We pushed passed it and we rushed to look at what was supposed to be an ocean side view, it was not, we had a peek at the ocean but mostly city side. Then we looked at the rest of our room and we noticed that it's not the room we requested. We requested 2 queen beds and we got 2, queen beds and bunk beds that were placed in front of the television. We brushed this off too and went downstairs to the pool to swim. We entered the pool area and we're caught off guard with a pine scent so strong that it made me gag. Looking around the pool area we noticed roach traps set up a long the wall in the pool. This was it for us. We went back upstairs and changed and came back down and complained to the front desk and asked if we could have any money back after staying one night of a 4 night trip. They denied our request and we had to go through our bank to get our money back. Also the beds we are super hard

Overall my stay here was nice. It’s has a nice view on the boardwalk and ocean. The only reason I gave this a 4 star was because of the rooms. The rooms were nice but also it looks like they never change the pillows. The pillows smelled very weird like sweat from multiple different people. The rooms are spacious and nice though. The area is very walkable and has many different shops and restaurants near by.
