We stayed in Shore Point Cottages at the end of September and I would NOT recommend this rentals for the following reasons:
1. They short you two hours when renting. Most rentals allow you to check in at 3 pm and check out at 11 am. Not Shore Point Cottages. Check in is at 4 pm and check out is 10 am. If you want to check in earlier it will cost you $25.00.
2. You are provided 1 set of sheets, 1 set of towels, 1 roll of toilet paper, 1 roll of paper towels. You need more? There is a $ cost for that!
3. They are very hard to contact and they take forever to call back. I do not believe that they are eve onsite so if you need help immediately, you will have to wait.
4. They are negligent. We were put in a cottage that two weeks prior the renters left due to bed bugs. Guess where we ended up! The cottage with the bed bugs and unfortunately, my daughter has an immune issue and had a SEVERE allergic reaction and had to go Urgent Care. She had to have her hands bandaged due to all of the blisters that formed. I realize that shit happens but they were negligent and did not have the cottage cleaned professionally.
5. In addition to my daughter getting bed bug bites, my cousin and I also had bed bug bites and we did NOT sleep in the bunk bed room where my daughter slept. I slept on the pull-out couch and my cousin slept in the back room. We did not have allergic reactions, thank goodness!
5. They BLAMED my daughter for the bed bugs!
6. Do they wash all of the sheets together?

We checked in today, Labor Day 2024. The outside was beautiful and very cozy. We unpacked. Left for dinner. All was great until we went to bed. The bunk room was filled with bugs… some look like bedbugs… some fleas. The linens appear dirty. As we’ve been barefoot inside, our feet are now black. I called the office and got no response on the emergency line. Left a message. I am on chemo, immunocompromised so we are now packing at 1 am after a 3.5 hour drive. I haven’t been on vacation since 2008 becuz of health and financial issues. This was a treat for my daughter and I that is now ruined. Outside looks great. Inside not so much. We were supposed to be here until Friday and praying they refund our money so we can salvage at least something of this disappointing mess. And when we get home, we get to leave everything outside while we have to detox all of our things.
Update: The property manager came out personally the next morning, was very personable, and gave us a full refund, offered a different cabin and a reduced trip in the future… went above and beyond. He assured us the cabin would be inspected.

Shore Point Cottages

Paid for early check in $50.00 got there, code for the gate didn’t work called the owners and left a message. Got to room cleaners were still there. After many phone messages left we got a call back from someone who started the phone call with your code doesn’t work until 4 check in is at 4 my son said wait a minute I paid for early check in he gave them his name, again, they said ok then refunded his money and unlocked his code. There were way too many phone calls to settle that issue
The rooms are very small with no place in first bedroom to put your clothes. The 2nd bedroom had a locked closet, the water heater is in it. This room had a dresser with three tiny drawers so we all lived out of our suitcases.
Not enough towels. I had brought a bunch of extra towels so that was good. We didn’t ask for more towels because you have to pay for more.
No one in charge was on the property! That was so frustrating! You have to call and leave messages and hope they call back. We had to call when we realized there were no sheets left for the sofa bed we left another message we finally found a house cleaner and explained what we needed and they got the sheets. Never got a call back on that request.
No lifeguard at the pool. When we got there someone left a dirty diaper under a lounge chair, a fake fingernail, and trash that was there the whole three days we were, no one ever came to clean the pool area.
The cottages look so nice outside and the area was clean. The screened in porch was the nicest feature!
The silverware was dirty, the coffee pot had used coffee grounds in it pot was dirty. The soap dispenser at the bathroom sink was empty.
There are no restaurants or snack bars on the grounds you so have drive to get food.
