Coastal Palms Beach Hotel

This was perfectly fine for our purposes -- which was attending Ocean's Calling. The location for the actual Boardwalk is a bit far, if you're relying on public transport. It's actually only 6 miles, but by beach bus is about 30+ minutes. It is actually only about 100 steps to the beach/ocean, so that was a wonderful perk! The rooms were clean and had what we needed. Nothing fancy at all. There was a parking lot view balcony that was nice for morning coffee. It felt motel like which is fine in a beach town -- but it's definitely just good enough. There really was no service. We didn't need anything while we were there - front desk was fine, but not outstanding. We took care of our own room and didn't really see many staff members during our four-night stay. The folks at the desk did tell us the hotel had been closed and only opened for the festival. Interesting. It was just what we needed -- no frills. Just a place to lay our heads. And it was in our price range for that particular weekend, when all lodging was priced three times the normal rates.

Stayed here from Friday- Sunday for bike week. The room was nice, smelled clean and stocked full of towels, toilet paper and the little hotel soaps and shampoos. Mini fridge worked great, as did the microwave. We had a nice view on the 5th floor. Everyone we encountered who worked there was friendly and helpful. The muffins and fruit were good for on the go. Only have 2 complaints, the shower head was very dated which isn't a deal breaker but could be updated and the sign once you leave the elevator said our room was to the right but it was to the left. The arrows are backwards. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay, we will be back next year!

I have always used this hotel for business and vacation purposes and have been very satisfied with the treatment. However, on August 15-16, I had a very disappointing and horrible experience during my last trip. I went to the hotel with my family, and there was a front desk lady with a really bad attitude which made our stay a bit complicated. She didn't even have a name tag. When I asked for her name, she said it was "Kim," but I'm not quite sure if that's her real name.

Firstly, I had reserved a city view room but got a different one upon arrival. When I tried to ask her about the mistake, she said there was no choice to select a city view room, despite my reservation confirmation clearly stating the room type as "City View." She didn't even want to see my email with the confirmation.

Additionally, the refrigerator wasn't working in my room, and when I informed the front desk, the response was, "We can only provide one bag of ice per room." This was not relevant to my room's refrigerator not working, and there was no intention to help.

My recommendation for the management is to ensure that the front desk and staff are making guests' vacations nice and unforgettable. It's a good way to keep the hotel fully booked. A good strategy would be to send someone to stay overnight to see what's going on and address the issues.
